Method

How we check one video's views

Like rate=likes÷views×100

Compared with the creator’s own recent videos and with TikTok creators of the same size in Sup’s data.

A view bot or a bought view package adds views and almost nothing else. Real viewers like, comment, share and save. So we read the video’s public numbers and ask four questions. Did the likes keep pace with the views? Did comments keep pace with the likes? Did people share and save it? And do the comments read like real people?

Each answer is compared with two things. The first is the creator’s own last 15 videos, because every account has its own normal. The second is the range for creators with the same number of followers, from 56,364 TikTok videos by 20,551 creators that Sup tracks. A video has to sit in the bottom 5% of that data and far below the creator’s own videos before we call it very unusual.

Our data

Normal like and comment rates on TikTok

These are the ranges the checker uses. Larger accounts get a slightly higher like rate per view and fewer comments per like, so a video is always compared with accounts of its own size.

Reading the result

What looks unusual, and what does not

High views, few likes

Many times the creator’s usual views with a like rate far below their normal. Bought views look like this. So does a paid ad.

Likes, no comments

A normal like rate with almost no comments. Likes are cheap to buy and comments are not, so bought likes often look like this.

Shares and saves

People keep and send videos they like. A video with plenty of shares and saves is very unlikely to be carried by bought views.

A real hit

Far more views than usual with the likes growing at the same rate. That is the For You feed doing its job, not a warning sign.

Generic comments

Mostly emoji, “nice” or the same text again and again. Real fans write emoji too, so read a few before you decide.

Views that fall

Check the same video later. If the view count went down, TikTok took views away, which it does when it judges them not genuine.

In practice

What to do with an unusual result

Treat it as a question, not an answer. Ask the creator for a screenshot of the video’s analytics: traffic sources, watch time and audience country. A creator with real numbers can send that in a minute. Then check a few more of their videos here, or run the whole account through the TikTok fake engagement checker. For views on a normal video, the TikTok average views calculator shows what to expect from a paid post.

FAQ

TikTok fake views questions

Bought views arrive without the likes, comments, shares and saves that real viewers leave. So the main test is the like rate: how many viewers liked the video, against the creator’s other videos and against creators of the same size. A video with far more views than usual and a like rate far below the creator’s normal is the clearest public sign.

In Sup’s data, a TikTok creator with 10k to 100k followers gets a median of 5.8 likes per 100 views, and 9 in 10 videos get more than 2.1. The table on this page gives the range for every size of account.

No. Public numbers cannot show where views came from. A paid ad (Spark Ads), a video shared outside TikTok or a lucky push from the For You feed can all look unusual. The tool says which number sits outside the normal range and what that can mean. Ask the creator for a screenshot of the video’s traffic sources to settle it.

Ads show a video to people who did not choose to follow the creator, and they like and comment far less. TikTok marks boosted videos, and when it does the tool says so and never rates the video above Unusual on the like rate alone.

The first time anyone checks a video, we keep its public counts. Check the same video an hour or more later and the result shows how much the views, likes and comments moved in between. A view count that goes down is the clearest public sign that TikTok removed views it judged not genuine.

Yes. Enter a handle here to check the newest video, or use the TikTok fake engagement checker, which reads the recent videos together and marks each one that sits outside the normal range.

How can you tell if TikTok views are fake?

Bought views arrive without the likes, comments, shares and saves that real viewers leave. So the main test is the like rate: how many viewers liked the video, against the creator’s other videos and against creators of the same size. A video with far more views than usual and a like rate far below the creator’s normal is the clearest public sign.

What is a normal like rate on TikTok?

In Sup’s data, a TikTok creator with 10k to 100k followers gets a median of 5.8 likes per 100 views, and 9 in 10 videos get more than 2.1. The table on this page gives the range for every size of account.

Can this tool prove that someone bought views?

Why does a paid ad look like bought views?

Ads show a video to people who did not choose to follow the creator, and they like and comment far less. TikTok marks boosted videos, and when it does the tool says so and never rates the video above Unusual on the like rate alone.

What does the second reading show?

The first time anyone checks a video, we keep its public counts. Check the same video an hour or more later and the result shows how much the views, likes and comments moved in between. A view count that goes down is the clearest public sign that TikTok removed views it judged not genuine.

Can I check a whole account instead of one video?

Yes. Enter a handle here to check the newest video, or use the TikTok fake engagement checker, which reads the recent videos together and marks each one that sits outside the normal range.

Is the TikTok fake views checker free?

Yes, with no sign-up. Each visitor can run 20 new checks an hour and 60 a day. A video checked in the last hour loads from our cache.
