2. Au Clair de Lune

Loved by locals and tourists alike, this bar brings out the best of Montmartre without the price tag. Its neon retro charm harks back to the Paris of the โ€˜60s and โ€˜70s, creating a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Located at the edge of Montmartre is this Art Deco cocktail lounge. Run by English staff and taking its name from a New Orleans brothel madam, this bar adds some je ne sais quoi to an evening out. The select menu features Lulu Whiteโ€™s signature absinthe infused cocktails, the Montmartre spirit of choice. The polished mahogany and mirrored interior has limited seating, so be sure to stop by early to grab a table.

4. Gravity Bar

See what contemporary Montmartre has to offer in this ultra modern cocktail bar. The interior is bright and airy, with wave-shaped wooden forms cascading down to the steel counter. Impressive, if pricey, cocktails are on offer, as is some mouthwatering food. Outside a small scandi style terrace lets you soak up the sunshine or Parisian night-time air. Frequented by the neighbourhoodโ€™s most fashionable crowd, this is one of the cityโ€™s hottest hangouts.

5. Marlusse et Lapin

Frequently listed amongst Parisโ€™s best bars, this tiny gem is a must-visit. Since opening it has endeared itself to the locals as a quirky place to stop by for a leisurely drink or friendly chat with the owners. The reasonable prices make this the place to go to sample Montmartreโ€™s favourite tipples, including the infamous absinthe. This bar at the southern edge of Montmartre offers classic and original cocktails right into the wee hours. For those in search of something a little more exclusive, look no further than Le Trรจs Particulier. As the name suggests, this is one of the cityโ€™s most sought after establishments, connected to the luxurious Hotel Particulier. The intimate bar and garden offers fresh food in the daytime and sparkling cocktails in the evening. Accessed through a discreet entrance and a number of intercoms, this bar is ideal for those looking to escape the bustling city. The prices do match the exclusivity, but itโ€™s worth it for Le Trรจs Particulierโ€™s trรจs parisien vibe. ย
